These are the raw recordings of my first ever attempts at music compositions and as a young teenager finishing 8th grade in 1989. It would be these attempts that my parents would upgrade my 32-key Casio synthesizer to a 61-key Casio synthesizer for the next set of recordings. As with any of the recordings you will hear, these are "in the moment, stream of consciousness improvs" of musical ideas that were toyed with prior to hitting the record button. This set of recordings will contain performance mistakes & audio issues. The recording method was simple - a boom box set in front of the synthesizer - no line in as I was not educated in audio recording in 8th grade.

After upgrading to a 61-key synthesizer, I also learned about the "line-in" feature of recording devices and was able to connect the synthesizer directly into the boom box, resulting in a cleaner recording. Also, the compositions were able to become broader and bigger in octave range, but it did not provide the ability to simultaneously change instruments as quickly nor allow droning of one instrument to continue after switching to another instrument to perform new musical ideas. There are still occasional performance mistakes heard and as with any of the recordings you will hear, these are "in the moment, stream of consciousness improvs" of musical ideas that were toyed with prior to hitting the record button.

As I became exposed to more film scores, classical music, pop, world, and jazz, I would start channeling all the influences into my own music compositional efforts. My music slowly begins to lean in the direction of music that could be for a movie. It exemplifies my exploration into various emotional styles that come across as exploratory themselves whether its something dark approaching, venturing through a vast landscape, or dealing with internal emotional struggles. There are still occasional performance mistakes heard and as with any of the recordings you will hear, these are "in the moment, stream of consciousness improvs" of musical ideas that were toyed with prior to hitting the record button.

A change of pace occurred musically when I was offered the chance to babysit the children of my mother's co-worker at the time. The family had a piano - detuned - but a piano nonetheless. After putting the children to bed, I would use their tape recorder to record my improvisations on the detuned piano. I did this repeatedly with each new babysitting gig with the same family. There are still occasional performance mistakes heard and as with any of the recordings you will hear, these are "in the moment, stream of consciousness improvs" of musical ideas that were toyed with prior to hitting the record button.
